Help with essential household items when money is short, so families do not go without the basics.
School and work costs
Support with education, training and work essentials, from school uniforms to the costs of getting into work.
Health and wellbeing needs
Assistance with disability, health-related costs and wellbeing, helping local people through difficult times.

Grants for community groups and organisations delivering projects that benefit residents of the Ashton-in-Makerfield area.
Here for our community since 1588
Founded in 1588, the charity’s original purpose was to provide linen and woollen clothing to those in need. Today we continue that legacy by offering grants and assistance to residents of the Ashton-in-Makerfield area experiencing financial hardship or other challenges.
A volunteer board of trustees oversees our work and makes sure every penny is used to benefit local people.
Two ways to ask for help
We accept referrals from professionals such as social workers, teachers, health visitors and community organisations.
Applications can also be made directly if you live in or attend a school, club or community organisation.
Every application is treated in confidence and assessed by our trustees.
The difference we make
The grant helped us buy school uniforms for our children when money was really tight. It made such a difference to us as a family.
Without the support of the charity, one of my clients would have gone without essential household items. The referral process was quick and easy.
